Labor Day is still more than a week away, but one of the country’s biggest online retailers is already rolling out holiday discounts.
Amazon has launched its Labor Day sale ahead of the Monday, Sept. 7, holiday, with deals spanning home goods, electronics, fashion, beauty, outdoor gear, and other categories.
The retailer’s homepage was advertising savings of up to 45 percent Saturday, Aug. 29, along with limited-time deals and discounts tied to saved items and shopping categories.

$919K Wired By Long Island Woman In India Scam; Queens Suspect Charged
A 70-year-old Nassau County woman wired nearly $1 million after scammers told her she was implicated in a crime in India, police said.
The victim received a call saying she needed to withdraw money to resolve the supposed criminal matter, Nassau County Police said.
Between Monday, June 29, and Monday, July 27, she withdrew and wired a total of $919,200, according to detectives.
The scammers contacted her again on Tuesday, Sept. 1, directing her to buy an additional $300,000 in gold bars and coins, police said.
That time, the Hicksville woman realized it was a scam and called police.

Suffolk Dealer Admits Supplying Crack To 14-Year-Old Sex Trafficking Victim In Plea Deal
A Long Island man pleaded guilty to giving crack cocaine to a 14-year-old girl as part of a sprawling sex trafficking case on Wednesday, Sept. 2.
Robert Knowles, 64, of Bay Shore, cut a plea deal in the case, copping to child endangerment in exchange for a 364-day jail term, Newsday reported. He faced a top count of second-degree rape, which he repeatedly denied.
Knowles also took a plea deal in a separate drug distribution case, which carries a seven-year prison sentence at a hearing next Wednesday, Sept. 9, according to online court records and a previous Newsday report.

NJ Times Square Stabbing Victim Was On Her First Day Back From Maternity Leave
Erin Piacenti was on her first day back following maternity leave when she was fatally stabbed in Times Square on Monday, Aug. 31.
Piacenti, a Chester, NJ resident, had welcomed her daughter Madison five months ago, according to a GoFundMe set up to support her daughter and husband, Frank.
