Here Comes The Bribe: Woman Sold Sham Marriages For Immigration Status, Feds Say
A Fall River woman made millions arranging fake marriages for immigrants seeking legal status, federal prosecutors allege.
Jennifer Gonzalez, 43, ran the operation for more than a decade, charging $38,000 to $40,000 per marriage, the US Attorney for the District of Massachusetts announced Wednesday. Investigators say she earned more than $100,000 a year during the 10-year scheme.
Five other people were also arrested and charged with taking part in the scam marriage scheme.

An Uber driver struck a 29-year-old Pennsylvania father and left him lying in the road, where a tractor-trailer then ran him over, authorities announced on Tuesday, Oct. 20.
Ricardo Jerry “Ricky” Baptiste, of Drexel Hill, died following the crash on West Germantown Pike near Whitehall Road in East Norriton Township on Sunday, Sept. 6, according to the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office.
Andy Nunez Vasquez, 43, of Philadelphia, has been arrested in connection with the fatal hit-and-run, District Attorney Kevin Steele and East Norriton Police Chief Matthew Brannen announced.

A Pennsylvania man who drove drunk, crashed into a tractor-trailer, and sent a 33-year-old UPMC nurse flying into oncoming traffic, where she was struck by multiple vehicles, has been sentenced to state prison, authorities announced on Tuesday, Oct. 20.
Apar Shirishkumar Patel, 38, of Danville, was sentenced on Tuesday, Oct. 13, by Lancaster County Judge Dennis Reinaker after pleading guilty in July to killing Karra Kate Clevenger, of Middletown, in a September 2024 crash on Route 283 in East Hempfield Township, according to the Lancaster County District Attorney's Office.

Lancaster County Drinking Dad Flees Police, Crashes With 2 Kids In Truck: Affidavit
A Pennsylvania dad drinking behind the wheel fled police and crashed with his two children improperly secured inside his pickup truck in Mount Joy on Friday, Oct. 2, investigators wrote.
Nicholas H. Schober, 38, of Mount Joy, had a breath alcohol concentration of .176% after the incident involving his children, ages 5 and 10, according to the criminal complaint. Daily Voice obtained court documents on Tuesday, Oct. 20.
