The biggest heroes in kids' lives may not need capes, theme music, or superpowers.
Parents are the top role models for children ages 4 to 12, according to a survey published Thursday, July 9, by Talker Research and commissioned by Kiddie Academy.
The survey of 2,000 parents found that children are most likely to look up to people in their everyday lives, according to Talker Research on behalf of Kiddie Academy.
Parents topped the list at 71 percent, followed by teachers at 40 percent, siblings at 37 percent, extended family members at 33 percent, and friends at 31 percent.

Orkin released its 2026 Bed Bug Cities List on Tuesday, July 7. Several Northeast cities cracked the top 50, including Washington, DC, New York City, Baltimore, Philadelphia, and Hartford, Connecticut.

The inaugural Class of 2026 includes Alina Bazarian, MD, who served as chief resident for 2025–2026; Awais Chaudary, MD; Anna Kaoutskaia, MD, also a 2025–2026 chief resident; Elena Mejery, MD; Carolyn Miller, DO; and Zeynep Ovacik, MD.

A new ranking is putting some of America’s most desirable communities in the spotlight.
Niche released its 2026 Best Places to Live in America rankings, naming top cities, neighborhoods, suburbs, and towns across the US.
The rankings analyze more than 230 cities and 18,000 locations nationwide, according to Niche.
Niche said the rankings use public data and millions of resident reviews to weigh factors such as cost of living, school quality, job opportunities, safety, diversity, walkability, and housing.

A longtime Abington family tradition is helping support a major upgrade to Jefferson Abington Hospital’s newly renamed Goodman Emergency Trauma Center.
The annual June Fete featured rides, carnival games, live entertainment, food trucks, fireworks, a Horse and Pony Show, jugglers, trampoline artists, and more, according to Jefferson Health.
